Photographer Derby

I'm a professional photographer based in Derby. I’m also a lecturer with over 30 years’ experience of practising and teaching the skills required to produce good quality photography. Many of my former students have gone on to successful careers in the creative design industries. My extensive knowledge and expertise enables me to offer unique, high quality photography with a fresh and creative approach at competitive prices.

My specialities are portraits, commercial, architecture and landscapes. However I’m very used to turning my camera and capabilities to a huge variety of commissions. I’ve photographed the board of directors for a property development company, a goat farmer with his flock, and a group of infants at a playgroup. All of these commissions require particular skills and present their own challenges, which for me is one of the attractions of my job.

I’m versatile in the way I approach projects, have an excellent command of photographic technique and I aim to meet every brief with precision, flair and style.

With my portable studio and lighting I'm able to take pictures at locations to suit you, whether it's at your home, a favourite place or anywhere else. Portraits can also be produced in a professional studio if preferred. Being photographed can be a stressful experience for many people, so I always spend time getting to know my subject in order to make sure they are feeling relaxed before I begin to photograph them.

I have a range of professional camera equipment at my disposal. This means I’m able to cope with the requirements of clients. Whatever they happen to be. Whether it’s for ultra-detailed close-up shots of technical equipment, large-scale industrial locations, panoramic shots of interiors, or creative portraiture on location, I can adjust as necessary to provide the perfect outcomes. I’m experienced in post-processing to ensure consistent output in terms of colour and exposure, and can offer additional services such as photo-montage and retouching.

Being based in Derby means I’m easily able to travel to a wide range of locations across the Midlands and further afield. Over recent months I’ve carried out jobs as far afield as County Durham, Surrey and Norfolk.
